Level Up Your Creative Shop

Ditch the Struggle and Transform Your Shop by Getting Back to Marketing Basics

You’ve been in business for a while now, yet it seems like you’re still waiting for your big business breakthrough. Selling products in your creative shop feels like a daily challenge that you are not winning. When you look around, you see other businesses succeeding as you struggle to connect with potential customers.

  • Why do they have thousands of Instagram followers?
  • Why do they get all the press?
  • How did they get their products into that major retail outlet?

Without a clear idea of who you’re selling to and why they should care about you, you will continue to feel uninspired by a business that used to fire you up.

Ready to get that fired-up feeling back for good?

"I came into this class thinking I need to get my target customer right for my existing products, but I ended up changing my whole direction and creating a different style of products for my dream customer instead! Be prepared to be mind blown, and if you hate changes, be very, very, afraid!”

Hi, I'm Arianne, captain and founder of Aeolidia, the famed design studio that has been building hundreds of transformative websites for creative shop owners since 2004. You may have seen me at CreativeLive, Design*Sponge, Craftcation, and Altitude Summit, and many other creative business conferences and events. I'm looking forward to helping you grow your "big little" business.

Brought to you by

In this course, we will address the fundamental challenges that keep your business from breaking through to the next level.

  • Why does it always feel like your marketing isn’t working?
  • Why do you sometimes feel inauthentic or too sales-y when talking about your products?
  • Why do you struggle with making basic business decisions, like what retailers to approach and what partnerships are a good fit for you?
  • Why do you have a hard time communicating what your brand should look and feel like to the creative people you hire to help execute that vision?
  • Why does it feel like your competition nails it every time?

This isn’t a course about marketing tactics

It’s not a “this is what worked for me so it’ll surely work for you” copycat class.

This is about a return to the roots of why you started your creative shop in the first place, and an honest examination of whether your original intentions are still working.

We do this through a survey of marketing fundamentals: Who is your target customer? How are you different from your competitors? What problems do your products solve? How do you create value?

  • We’ll start by examining your current customer base, and we’ll do some real talk about whether or not you feel good about selling to those customers.
  • We’ll talk about the problem your product solves, even if you think it doesn’t actually solve a problem.
  • We’ll do a deep dive into how your business is different from your competitors.
  • We’ll talk about how to stand out in a competitive marketplace by connecting with a smaller tribe of people who really “get” you (and how to find those people).
  • We’ll pepper in plenty of examples of businesses that are doing things right, with stories from businesses that struggled to hit the mark the first time around—and how they achieved their own breakthroughs.

"I can always count on Arianne to ask great questions that challenge me to rethink my assumptions, get my wheels turning, and ultimately, make real changes to positively impact my business. The Target Audience class was solid gold and challenged my thinking on who my best customers are, what they want, and how my team and I can best serve them. Worth every penny!"

- Kat Gordon, Founder, Muddy's Bake Shop

"Arianne's class deftly led me through some much needed soul searching for my business to dig deep into who my target customer truly is. I learned so much over the 3 week course, and feel confident in refining the way I message and market my business to reach my dream customers. The class was well worth my investment of time and money! I would take another Aeolidia course in a heartbeat."

- Angie Flickinger, Founder, Maker, & Dreamer at Gathered and Grown

There are only 15 spots available in the group course

Be prepared to radically rethink your business... and get it working again.

This October, we’re offering this class in an intimate online group setting to just 15 creative shop owners. In the first three weeks, we will pull out the guts of your business, lay it all out on the table, and perform a radical assessment of what’s working, what’s not working and why. In Week 4 we’ll reassemble your business in a way that reignites your creative spark. This is a truly transformational process that you must be fully committed to and fully present for.

Group feedback + business coaching = big win for you

The online group is moderated by Aeolidia founder Arianne Foulks, who will be there during every step of the process to answer your questions, provide feedback, and facilitate group discussion. During Week 4, you’ll have a 30-minute one-on-one call with Arianne to discuss your business’ next steps in detail based on everything you learned in the course.

"Arianne's class was invaluable to me, as a new creative business owner. To have the opportunity to have personal advice from a leading industry rock star, as well as from like minded peers, is rare. This class will pay for itself a million-fold with the information I gained in moving forward toward success."

- Shelley Pavlis, Founder, Wear the Past

  • Weekly live video Q+A sessions (3 total) with Arianne, where you can get help getting unstuck on any of the steps outlined in the course and ask your questions directly

Solo Course

Get access to the material and work at your own pace.

You will receive the same lessons through Teachable as above, but the course will be entirely self-guided over email and the web. You won't have access to the Facebook community of students or one-on-one consultation or advice specific to your business from Arianne.

"Arianne provides specific, concrete information and insight into numerous topics related to her company, Aeolidia, in a friendly, focused manner. It has been great to have access to knowledge attained by not a single business' experience (like many 'mentors' out there), but based on her experience with the numerous growing businesses that she has worked with over the years. Thanks, Arianne!"

- Lauren Boggs Messlar, Founder, Beve

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is this class for?
This class is for you if:

  1. You are a creative with a physical product(s) to sell.
  2. You don’t feel crystal clear about who you’re talking to and what to say when selling online.
It can help a new business make solid plan, and we had some advanced businesses last time who had great breakthroughs and clarified their messages. Putting this class together has helped me with my own focus and communication, and I've been doing this for over 13 years.

This class is a great fit for:
  • Etsy businesses that want to take control of their sales
  • Longstanding businesses that want to reach a new online audience
  • New businesses (and even business ideas) that want to be sure they're creating something unique that people will want
  • People who have been selling at markets and fairs who want more traffic and sales from their websites
  • People who think it might be time to rebrand or reach a new/different market
  • Business owners who feel like they've plateaued and want to take their work farther
  • People who feel burnt out or bored by their business and want to get that fired up feeling and know what to do with it!
I hope you'll join me.
What do I need to participate?
  1. An email address
  2. A business or a business idea
  3. A personal Facebook account (if you choose the Group class).
Do I need to block out time on specific days? What time of day will live content happen?
I haven't scheduled Q&As yet, because I wanted to work with our group to see what would be best for you. Any live videos or Q&A sessions will be saved to the Facebook group and can be replayed at any time. I will also be asking for questions in advance of each session. So if you have a question and can't make it live, I will be able to answer your question, and you can re-watch that any time.

The most important parts of this class are doing the work yourself, and getting the help and feedback of me and the group, which will be available around the clock. I will prompt the group with the day's topic, but it's also fine if you want to go back to an earlier topic and keep exploring it. And we can schedule your one-on-one phone call with me for any time that works for us both. The timeline is pretty flexible and forgiving. If you need a few days off, that won't ruin it for you!
When does the Group course start and finish?
We begin as a tight-knit group of instructor and no more than 15 students on Monday, October 9, 2017. The course is three weeks plus your one-on-one consultation with me during the week of October 30, 2017.
When does the Solo course start and finish?
The course starts now and never ends! It is a completely self-paced online course - you decide when you start and when you finish.
How long do I have access to the course?
How does lifetime access sound? After enrolling, you have unlimited access to this course for as long as you like - across any and all devices you own.
Can I preview the course?
Yes! Scroll up to the lesson list and you can click the "preview" button and get lesson 3 for free, to see an example of how our lessons go (though there's nothing like getting immediate helpful feedback and new ideas from our tight knit group of motivated business owners about each lesson).
What if I am unhappy with the course?
We would never want you to be unhappy! If you have completed the course work and shown a reasonable effort but are unsatisfied with your purchase, contact us in the first 30 days and we will provide a full refund.
